Simple Lawn Care Tips

When most people come up to a house, the first thing that they see is a lawn full of grass. And good lawn care is important, because first impressions will stick with your friends and neighbors, or even that important client you are having over for dinner, for a long time. Luckily, lawn care can be a very simple thing and easy to do.

Two of the most important things that can be done to keep your lawn looking nice are to water and mow it, especially in those summer months when it does not rain as much and lawns have a habit of drying out and turning brown. A brown lawn, especially one that hasn’t been kept short, will make even the nicest house look shabby by association. And for those homeowners with families, your kids will appreciate a soft green yard much more for the joy of running around barefoot. In addition to mowing, make sure that the grass does not begin to creep onto the sidewalks around your house. One thing that will help with this is to make sure that you rake up your clippings instead of leaving them in clumps around the area.

On the flip side, there are so many things that can damage your lawn during the wetter winter and fall and turn it into a pile of mud, something that no one wants to deal with. If you have a dog, try to take it on walks away from home instead of just leaving it in the yard to get its daily exercise. High foot traffic, like that of an energetic animal, can absolutely ruin your already struggling grass. The same goes for people who park on their front lawn for whatever reasons. If you can avoid it, do. And if you cannot, drive and brake gently to avoid tearing up the grass.
